Enjoy this happy hour social atmosphere with wax and wine. This introductory evening will give you a taste into the painting medium of encaustic. We’ll cover some of the basics including safety, supplies and beginning techniques. Bring your favorite beverage or snack to share.
3 Hours. Fee $65. Includes supplies and equipment. Class is limited to 8 students per session.

Continuing from the Wax & Wine workshop,  we’ll discuss in more detail; history, safety, resources, products and supplies before moving tons of time painting! You’ll learn about support options, fusing, inscribing, and mixed media approaches. We’ll cover all the basics but emphasis will be on enabling you to achieve your personal creative vision. Demonstration and paint time dominate this workshop.
6 Hour Workshop. Workshop Fee $125. All supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention.

Encaustic Basics

Beginning Encaustic $ 135.00
10am – 4:30pm with ½ hour lunch break.

This introductory course will put you well on your way to understanding the medium of encaustic. This beginner workshop is perfect for artists working in other mediums as well as those not experienced with art-making as no special skills are required. We’ll talk about history, safety, products and supplies before moving to a demo in initial wax application and tons of time painting! You’ll learn about support options, fusing, inscribing, and mixed media approaches. We’ll cover all the basics but emphasis will be on enabling you to achieve your personal creative vision. Demonstration and paint time dominate this workshop.

Surface Design Techniques – #1

Int-Adv. – Encaustic   $ 135.00

Encaustic Surface Design Techniques #1 – Photo Elements & Collage:

We will explore surface finishing techniques including embedded photo images on silk paper, photo transfer and natural materials and other collaged elements. By combining your photo elements and other collaged materials you will create uniquely personal statements that can be continued in your studio and work.

This is an intermediate level class – beginning encaustic class or previous experience required.
Most supplies and equipment included. A materials list will be provided to registered students.
Maximum of  4 students allows for personal attention.

Surface Design Techniques – #2

Int-Adv. – Encaustic   $ 135

Encaustic Surface Design Techniques #2 – Mixed Media & Burning Techniques:

We will explore surface finishing techniques introducing mixed media elements with encaustic and burning techniques that provide unique surface finishes. Burning applications include tar, glue, shellac and paint. Discover how to safely create outrageous and intriguing surface design.

This is an intermediate level class – beginning encaustic class or previous experience required.
Most supplies and equipment included. A materials list will be provided to registered students.
Maximum of 4 students allows for personal attention.

Paper & Wax: Mark Making + Encaustic = Monotypes

Beg./Intrm. Encaustic           $ 135
10am – 4:30pm with ½ hour lunch break

Paper & Wax:

This explorative workshop introduces students to working with different types of paper, mark making materials and encaustic wax. Students will discover the diversity of encaustic paint while creating unique works of art that express your own inner voice.

A supply list of recommended papers and mark making tools will be provided to registered students. All equipment and encaustic paint is included.  This is workshop is a beginning/intermediate level class. Maximum of 4 students allows for personal attention.
